IMDC is located in one of the most scenic areas in country’s
capital, Islamabad. IMDC was established in 2007 and is affiliated with
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) with effect from
1 st January 2016. The College has a dedicated dental section which offers
a four-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program, designed with a
module-based curriculum and structured into two years of pre-clinical/basic
sciences followed by two clinical years where direct patient care begins in
the third year. The institution emphasises modern infrastructure, well-
equipped laboratories, a spacious library, and an environment conducive to
high-quality teaching and learning.
The dental section has its teaching dental hospital, Islamabad Dental
Hospital (IDH)and Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital( ANTH), located at Bhara
Kahu on Main Murree Road. IDH is described as a modern dental hospital
covering Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Northern Punjab, Hazara division, the
Northern Areas and Azad Jammu & Kashmir territories. Its clinical
departments include Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial
Surgery, Periodontology, Endodontics & Operative Dentistry, Radiology,
Implantology, Paediatric Dentistry as well as multiple specialist and
laboratory units such as the Phantom-Head Lab, Oral Pathology Lab and
Community Dentistry Lab. The linkage between the dental college and its
teaching hospital ensures that dental students have access to diverse
clinical exposure and specialist facilities integral to their professional
training.
